How
To ~ Write Grad writeups
Each year
Graduating students are asked to create a 100 word writeup about themselves as a caption
for their grad photo in the school yearbook. The writeup should be a comprehensive
snapshot of who they are.
- read other writeups (
some are provided below)
fill in Information gathering form.
draft your writeup.
rewrite a polished version of your writeup.
hand polished writeup in to your English teacher (with name
and divison).
English teacher will initial completed
writeups and hand in to Publishing class.
(ENGLISH TEACHERS ONLY can hand writeups into publishing class)
Use any word processor to create your writeup. Word has a "Word counter" in
the Tools pull-down menu.
The Library has a copy of each years yearbook you can look at to get ideas from. |
| A "good" writeup leaves a lasting impression of wit, humor,
sensitivity, and accomplishment. A "poor" writeup also leaves a lasting impression |
- Ivan
Idzan
- The "professor", born in Yellowknife was
actively involved in yearbook, council, Amnesty, band, guitar, drama, Reach for the Top
and the Paris trip. A fan of chocolate, Eric Clapton, The Grateful Dead, money and aciing
tests, Star Trek, ALF, travel books (Counte of Monte Cristo) and movie (My Fair Lady),
this future journalist hates P.E. and leaves to braver persons Mr. Dey's attempts to make
him the perfect math student.
- Kurt Smith
- Recruited to Salmon Arm in 1977, Kurt likes parties,
motorbiking, Roadblaster, and anything that doesn't involve work. He hates working without
pay and Saturday-night curfews. Other interests include the Oilers, old cars, and Def
Leppard. One of his funniest memories was when Keith drove his car into the cement
barricade.
- Robyn Fraser
- June 1988 brought "Shorty" to us from
Whitecourt, Alberta. Guns 'n Roses, Oilers, Freddy Krueger, and Elizabeth Manley top her
charts as the best. Active in figure skating, basketball, and hockey, she also enjoys
painting, drawing, sketching, and great friends. She leaves her giggles and smiles to
those who need them.
- Thea Goldstrom
- Partial to long weekends, small fortunes, and
sensitive males, Thea would never accuse her teachers of giving her too much homework, but
she plans to leave pamphlets entitled "Exercises for Shut-Ins," and "How to
Have Lots of fun in 15 Minutes" to future Grade 10's. She suggests that next year's
agenda book come with ball and chain attached.
- Will Fazan
- Our school's "King of Hearts," "Big
Guy" is a popular sports figure (basketball, volleyball, rugby) and potential beach
bum. Besides team sports, his interests run to a certain girl, weightlifting, limmericks,
and the social aspects of team trips. However, he is bothered greatly by penalty points,
physiotherapy, and cold showers. Will looks forward to having Van Halen play at his
birthday party.
- Kevin Estabrook
- "Ester" is a fanatic volleyball and
basketball player who also found time for baseball, soccer, the drums, and last year's
French exchange to Ottawa. Although he moves on to SASS in the fall, Ester leaves his
heart at Shuswap for the girls to fight over. To the teachers who fail to appreciate his
great wit, he leaves the perenial query, "Why do you insist on testing the irrelevant
material that I haven't bothered to study?"
